What the neighbourhood is like
The Eixample stretches south of the Mercadal, between the Gran Via de Jaume I, Carrer de la Creu, Plaça Marquès de Camps and the station area. Wide streets on a grid, shops at street level and plenty of neighbourhood life.
The buildings are mostly 1960s to 1990s apartment blocks, usually with a lift and often with parking in the building or nearby. There are also newer developments around the Parc Central and the station.
It is the most liquid market in the city: well-priced flats sell fast because demand is constant, from buyers and from tenants who work in Girona or Barcelona and commute by AVE (38 minutes).
